Choose one first workflow
Start with a specific task: answering product questions, helping a customer locate an existing order or discussing an opted-in promotion. Define the expected next step and the team that handles replies. Do not combine every store event into one launch; a small, understood workflow is easier to review.
Separate a chat button from an integration
A click-to-chat button opens WhatsApp and can include a prepared message. It does not automatically synchronise customer records, read an order or update fulfilment. For those actions, confirm whether the proposed setup uses an installed app, a connector or custom API work, and which systems are responsible.
Map the event, customer and message
Document the store event, the customer identifier, the fields needed and the permitted action. For an order update, agree which order status is authoritative and how a repeat event is handled. A failed lookup should create a clear handover rather than sending an inaccurate message.
Review permissions before installation
Shopify apps request access to particular store data and actions. Review that access against the workflow instead of granting permissions without a purpose. Establish who owns the app configuration, who can change it and how access is removed if the connection is retired.
Keep promotional and service journeys distinct
A discount campaign, an abandoned-checkout reminder and a response to an order question have different purposes. Review the actual message, the recipient’s permission and the applicable WhatsApp template requirements. Do not assume that an email-marketing subscription automatically establishes permission for every WhatsApp message.
Test exceptions before expanding
Use controlled test records for a new customer, a repeated event, a cancelled order and a reply that needs a person. Confirm that opt-outs are respected and that customer details are not exposed to the wrong conversation. Record what the team should do when the connector or store event is unavailable.
Compare apps around your own operation
For a UAE or GCC store, include recipient countries, Arabic or English content review, AED or other billing requirements and service coverage. For India, include customer language, INR quotation requirements and your order process. Ask Whats-Now to confirm the available integration route and scope; this page is not a claim that a particular Shopify app or native connector is included.
Example integration brief
Illustrative requirement: a customer asks about an order.
- Identify the order through the agreed customer-verification process.
- Read the permitted order status from the designated source.
- Give the customer a clear update or hand the question to support.
- Record the next action and avoid repeating a message for the same event.
Confirm each step and the available connector during scoping. This example does not assert an installed integration or completed implementation.

From an order question to the right team
A shopper asks about an existing order. Establish the order context through the agreed process, then route the question to the colleague who can check its status.
Bring your preferred customer language and current business tools. Your India quotation will state the billing currency and implementation scope.
